Gearbox problems can range from a minor fluid leak to a complete transmission failure. JLR Autocare provides expert gearbox diagnosis, service, repair, and rebuild for manual, automatic, DSG, and ZF transmissions across all makes and models. Our Hitchin and Souldrop workshops are equipped with the specialist tools and diagnostic equipment needed for complex transmission work.

Many automatic gearboxes are marketed as "sealed for life" — but this is misleading. In practice, regular fluid changes at 60,000–80,000 mile intervals significantly extend transmission life and prevent expensive failures. We carry out ATF drain-and-fill and full flush services using the correct specification fluid for your vehicle.

The ZF 8HP automatic gearbox is found in an enormous range of vehicles including BMW 3/5/7 Series, Jaguar XE/XF/F-PACE, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery, Audi A4/A6/A8, and many others. We carry out routine ZF 8HP services — replacing the fluid, filter, and sump gasket — at a fraction of the dealer price.

For Audi, VW, and SEAT owners, DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) servicing is essential. The DSG oil and filter should be changed every 40,000 miles. We carry out DSG services on both the 6-speed (DQ250) and 7-speed (DQ200/DQ381) variants using genuine-specification fluid.

If your gearbox is showing signs of failure — harsh shifting, slipping, grinding noises, or warning lights — bring it to us for an expert assessment. We can often repair or rebuild a gearbox for significantly less than the cost of a replacement unit.
