A flat or failing battery is the number-one cause of breakdown call-outs in the UK. JLR Autocare provides same-day battery testing and replacement for all vehicle types. We stock standard, EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery), and AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries for start-stop vehicles. Crucially, we also carry out battery registration on vehicles that require it — a step many garages skip, which can lead to premature battery failure.

Modern vehicles with start-stop systems, multiple electronic modules, and energy management systems require the correct battery type and, crucially, battery registration after fitting. Fitting the wrong battery or failing to register it can cause the charging system to overcharge or undercharge the new battery, leading to premature failure.

BMW, MINI, Volkswagen, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz vehicles all require battery registration when a new battery is fitted. This tells the vehicle's energy management system that a new battery has been installed, resetting the charge profile. We carry out this registration using manufacturer-level diagnostic equipment.

If your battery keeps going flat, the issue may not be the battery itself. Parasitic electrical drains — where a module or component draws excessive current when the vehicle is parked — are a common cause. We carry out parasitic drain testing to identify the culprit.
