An illuminated airbag warning light means your vehicle's Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) has detected a fault — and your airbags may not deploy in a collision. This is a serious safety issue and will also result in an MOT failure. JLR Autocare provides expert airbag and SRS diagnosis, repair, and module reset for all makes and models at our Hitchin and Souldrop workshops.

The airbag warning light can be triggered by a wide range of faults — from a simple connector issue under a seat to a failed crash sensor or deteriorated clock spring in the steering column. Our manufacturer-level diagnostic equipment reads the specific fault code and pinpoints exactly which component has failed, avoiding unnecessary parts replacement.

After a collision where airbags have deployed, the airbag control module (ACM) stores crash data and locks out. In many cases, we can clear the crash data and reset the module — saving you the significant cost of a replacement unit. We also inspect and replace deployed airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, and any damaged sensors.

The clock spring (also called a rotary coupler or spiral cable) is a common failure point, particularly on vehicles with steering wheel-mounted controls. When it fails, it triggers the airbag warning light and may also affect the horn and steering wheel buttons. We carry replacement clock springs for many popular models.

Seat occupancy sensors are another frequent cause of airbag warnings, particularly on BMW and Mercedes vehicles. We diagnose whether the sensor itself has failed or if there is a wiring issue, and carry out the appropriate repair.
